Friends:
Just a brief update to wish all of you a very merry New Year. While things are not all we wish for we do have a lot to be thankful for. Remember, that blessings come in all sizes and all shapes and we must not fail to appreciate the small blessings too.
I want to take a moment to thank all of you who continue to make this web site and the Steyr Scout site such successes, and a special thanks to those who have contributed arcane information, samples, and other goodies. I would also like to thank those folks who have written me to thank me for all the work that went into my site and for keeping it up and running and especially a couple of generous folks who asked to be anonymous who have sent me unsolicited financial contributions. In these tight times REALLY I appreciate your generosity which helps to defray hosting and domain name expenses. And a special thanks to the 3 individuals who have sent "wee drams" of high end single malt, and a jar of truly delicious raspberry jam labeled F-R-O G jam.
Remember that politicians are generally not worried about US. We need to make sure that the the socialist administration is thrown out, that elected officials keep their promises and continue to work to return this country to the people, and that the Tea Party continues to work towards that goal too. Get involved! It's your country. 2012 will be a pivotal year in the continuation of our freedoms and our continued existence, so get out and VOTE.
The number of visitors to my sites continues to grow beyond my wildest expectations. This site is approaching 401,000 visits and the Steyr Scout site is close to 365,000. The two specialty pages on Jeff Cooper and the Savage scout rifle have been visited over 123,500 and almost 165,000 times respectively. I continue to get so many messages from folks all around the world congratulating me for my efforts, as to boggle a humble frog's mind. I've heard from archeologists, ballisticians, clergymen, doctors, forensic technologists, gourmets, historians, lawyers, peace officers, scientists, military folks, students, teachers, writers, and shooters of all levels of experience, and even an occasional cat and dog (well at least E-mails from the cats' administrative assistants).
I've received correspondence from Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Guatemala, India, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Japan, Nambia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the UK. Hopefully I've spread some knowledge and provoked some thought. I thank all of you who have written me with questions, ideas, and updates, to share your interests or faith, to point out typos, or just to share kind words. I'm glad to have been of some small assistance to you. I value your friendship and I wish you and your families the best.

I have been asked by several correspondents why I so freely share my shooting and other knowledge with others--or for that matter why I try so hard to answer all E-mail inquiries. Well, it's a simple answer. When I was a youngster I was blessed by having adult friends and relatives who answered my incessant questions about everything, showed me what was what, and in general educated me in the "mysteries" of various subjects. This is simply my way of thanking them for their patience and kindness by "paying it forward." Remember: The only dumb question is one not asked!
